Carter Hood

Graduate Student, Intern

About

My name is Carter, and I am a graduate Marriage and Family Counseling student at the University of Florida. I also received my B.S. in Psychology from the University of Florida, making me a double Gator.

I first got into counseling when I volunteered at the Crisis Center in Gainesville. While working there, I learned the immense impact that having someone to talk to can have on a person. From then on, I followed that passion in pursuit of a career in counseling.

I believe that humans have an innate ability to change, and sometimes what they need is another person alongside them for their journey. Counseling can offer that fellow traveler in the form of a counselor to help people find who they are and what they want to be. Therapy is hard, but it can be immensely beneficial since it allows a safe space for people to have the difficult conversations they might not be having. As a counselor, it is my job to ensure that safety and help you grow into the person you want to become.

I aim to work in collaboration with clients to achieve their goals. By working alongside them, clients will be given the tools to live their ideal lives so they can leave therapy with the tools to maintain their vision of how they want to live their lives.

I am interested in working with individuals of all populations and interests. I am available to work with families, couples, individuals, and children.
